PINTYA (of course puneite):  are kya yaar sir, ho jayengaa na bola , bas tu biindaas ja, "i doing it".

After all this has happened at 4 in the evening the phones are in "tricky modes", few in flight mode, few in "tuza aaicha kitna bajta hai" mode, few simply in switched off mode and Mr. Businessman's phone is in constant retry mode.....and Pintyaa?? ...Pintyaa gela re(pintya has fleed or ran away)......

now when a Puneite asks you the time of meeting he means to the time he will wake up and start even thinking about the work or meeting.

So in Pune Standard Time there is always a time lag of 2 hours. Now all this changes when a Puneite has to, bole toh has to work in IT or BPO sector..... he/she starts blaming the manager, the MNCs and the business sector for asking him to be punctual and work according to stipulated time. I guess Pintyaa would say "Kay raooo ye myaan this is totally disgushting myaan (now he's learnt ingraji ) i was only 1 hour late for client presentation call doood  and he screwed me royally and that too left right center ( wtf left-right-center screwing technique mean, i cannot let ma imagination draw a clear picture for the same.) " .

Now Pune auto waalas have a class of their own, sitting in khaakis in groups playing cards or sleeping( few of them with red beard), few younger(auoto waalas) ones slapping or kicking each other in fun as jokes and chanting tujhsaa aaichsaa in every sentence they murmur. Now when you ask them " X jagah jaoge kya?" they would first give you a look -"can't u see i am playing cards, and uve come up with a problem of your own, huh !", now they would quote a price which is not according to meter installed and would give a reason that we have to come empty from there, ( we shud say don't come back from there till u get someone to board ur fucking rikshaw). trhat sometimes is still bearable, few of them would give you a straight "NO", a Russel Peter "NOOOOOOOO" and ask you to "be a man", i dont know how they earn money.call on

Pune shopkeepers and store owners have least interest in customer experience ,u need to be sure of what you want and buy the item once you enter within 2 mins or they would say " kharidne ka nahin to hazaar item dekhta kaiko hai", they don't understand the meaning of surfing before you buy something good, and its difficult to find quality in Pune trust me on this.

Why Have Restaurants Failed in Pune Recently

The concept of  "hospitality" started from the inherent human trait of caring for other people and grew to become one of the most important industries of the modern age.

I would suggest you that ask yourself a question, what factor makes it possible for the food joints like Sweet Chariot, Burger King, Rajput Dairy and others to operate with no issues of walk-in customers. Well you know the answer to that, it is -
-Presence in Market from a long time has won them good name but they have maintained it by using all the possible good management techniques.
-They know what they want to sell and to whom, they have given it a lot of thought to "what they(food joints) have, what they(customers) want" and have set priorities accordingly for the business.We all know how bad Sweet Chariot was doing when dining was not allowed in the open seating space. Sweet Chariot knew that besides their yummy Pastries, Cakes and Awesome Coffee, Ala Keivs etc the major factor was outside open air seating. They got it back and are back in booming business.
Hence-Focus- Cuisine, Theme, Interiors, Staff, Menu, Music and other essentials should be complementing and yet should not be aimlessly and randomly designed to sell everything to everyone.
-Good quality is most essential factor in hospitality business and consistency in the same attracts more and more people to come for "that" taste.
-Location has definitely been an advantage, but places like Cafe Euthanasia do not have the advantage of Busy route, but being present in areas where we already have amazing Food Joints.

Factors  for failure , hmmm ..... there are many problems which are very obvious and visible in open -

-Generally owner is just an investor that is has a lot of money and desire to run a fancy food business and tries   to be

--Marketing Manager            --Architect

--Kitchen Manager               --Interior Designer

--Sales Manager                   --Accounts Manager    

 and of course the first mistake------ he thinks he is an INVESTOR

Few restaurant owners completely rely on unreliable Puneites (http://goo.gl/aWCyf ) who traitorously claim to be all of the above and are experts in all the above mentioned departments, whereas they are not even 10% of not even 1 of the above mentioned divisions.

• Lack of proper planning architecture and poor planning itself.
• Incorrect predictions and expectations from the business.
• No survey or biased survey with facts and data from an unreliable source leads to disaster later as we dont even know the market and who is the target customer.

People assume (which you should never do because it makes ASS out of U and Me) that owning a restaurant is fun and exciting, a great way to make money and perhaps even become famous. Well owning a restaurant is a lot of hard work more than anything else. While there are definite benefits to being your own boss, there are serious drawbacks as well.

Pune, people, books, websites have written that Pune is "Cultural Capital" of Maharshtra. Well that probably does not describe Pune precisely. I would rather say, its a city with richest municipal corporation in Asia, because of many colleges and endless number of automobile, forging, IT companies. Its a city with many Army establishments and Institutions and Pune can boast of being the southern command of Indian Armed Forces.. Its a city where reputed and age old institutions and universities like Pune University, Symbiosys, COEP, Wadia college, Fergusson College and many more have been and continue to be “shikshaa kshetra” for many scholars. Now we find it Difficult to gulp but cherish the opening of new and gigantic Malls, Luxurious Hotels and clubs by top international brands like Hyatt and Marriott, still Punekars have continued to be calm and have stayed away from dirty politics unlike Delhites or Mumbaikars.That is the reason why Pune is one of the safest places for students especially women. Pune is a city to live and experience life here than visit as a tourist place.

Puneri Public is used to visits by tourists from around the world, thanks to the OSHO Commune Center, that attracts thousands of enthusiastic foreigners on a spiritual journey or simply yoga guru or learners to Pune every year.

Vicinity to hill-stations, beaches, forts, adventure parks and its own amazing night-life makes life exciting throughout the year. Thanks to the ambitious and tolerant police-waalas and spending capacity of nocturnal IT and BPO guys which has allowed the clubs and other food joints , tapris to run till late morning which is even in favor of the students & they can then enjoy andaa bhurjii, bun-maskaa, chai and sutta, shwaurmaa etc which is only a dream for Bangalorians.

There has to be more than one reason for Pune being “Cultural Capital of Maharashtra (excluding Vidarbha)” . Probably the great Ganesh Mahotsav, Pandharpur Mela, Shivaji Jayanti & other festivals are contributing factors. Pune has also witnessed rule of several Dynasties which date as early as 8 ad when Rashtrakuta Dynasty and later Yadavas called this city Punaka Vishaya to being closely related to greatMaratha King Chattrapati Shivaji and our city was called Punewadi which was limited to size of present dayvishrantwadi or wanowarie. Then was the turn of thePeshwas .

Hence a melange of heterogeneous people in the city, harmonious blend of old and new. We can quote that Pune is a city with twin image where one it is traditionally bound and other of being modern industrial metropolis.

I leave it to the experts to decide and use sobriquets like- “Queen of Deccan ”, “Cultural Capital Of Maharshtra”, “Pensioners' Paradise” OR “Oxford of East ”.

Pune is a city that is culturally alive. Laid back and "chalta hai" attitude with residents mainly from working class, artisans and students, that is, loads of two wheeler rider Punekars. All looking for the place where they can get the best Biryani, Chai( either sets  the mood for mathri from Rajput Bakery or ruins the mood if it is "third time boiled 5th time heated" tea at Shinde "kafe"),

Alu ka Paratha(Nandu's, Balle Balle @ Dange Chauk, Rajput  and many contenders), Dosas( many competitors from Madhuban to Kalyani, Flute in Mundhwa ), Samosas and chats( Viman Nagar Allahbaadi samosas have what it takes to be a good samosa), Jalebis( Aundh, B T Kawde Rd), Wafers( Many from Balaji to Budhani or the other way round in quality), how can we forget the craving for Burger King's Burger( story about how they are different KP Burger King vs MG Burger King), Sizzlers( many i know u said Bounty has best sizzlers or Yana, Kobe and many more), How can we forget the famous Cheese Omelet of Irani Cafe' Yezdaan, and then endless list of places where we would get amazing Buffets, the best juices i would say is @ Falahaar @ Viman Nagar, Best Beer (hah now we talkin ) Smokiess Doolally craft Beer beats all Hands Down, Bhel, Missal, Poha and other Nashtaa, Cold Coffee ( I heard that "Durga" near MIT college) and list is endless to choose from whether its food or places or ambiance( who cares if its not a club). 

Where students look for ways to get to "good crowd" streets of J.M, M.G, F.C, K.P....(wow so many of 'em x.x) Road and few others from BPOs and Other IT related sectors run for the clubs around Pune from Pan Card to Stone Water in K.P and then there are those who would either rush to Smokiess, Toons, Hidden Place or The Bonnett in Kalyani Nagar for a match with beer Mug or Jug or Baalti ( i am not cracking a bad joke, Ask Kodu Irani, owner of High Spirits @ K.P) , there are few who would dress up, suit up ( yah like Barnyes(HIMYM) and Tehseens(Wohi waala)), wear their latest branded Mango or other designer dress and drive or ask autos to drop em at either Miami, Kue Bar, Stone Water, One Lounge, High Spirits and many moreand then there are few who would if they get time from the star's and zee's and sony's PARAMPARIC  series full of coincident, impractical events, misleading characters, non-sense plots, 17th century approach etc. would go for nice family dinner to one of highly reputed Vheg or Naan- Vheg Restaurants like Shivsaagar( Cool and expensive for no reason at all), Prems, Mallaka Spice, Yellow Chilies, Mayur Sukanta for Thaalis, Rajdhaani, Shri Krishna, etc and can go on for ever actually i havent even thought of mentionig Dhole Patil Road and J.M road in Detail.


Vinod Dua i guess would write- ( i know you are laughing now) I would have said -" Yahaan, Pune Ke khaan- Paan ka swaad ho na ho, Class aur Mehngaai zaroori hai, aur iska bhi apna ek Alag zayka hai".


Ravish i guess would write in Ravish ki Report- Kabhi Chuttiyon mein apne bachon ke saath yahaan ayiga, aur khaayiyega yaahan ke masaale daar Missal, na daal na ghee na chaunka par Missal aapko rulayega bhi aur Indian Curry ka mazaa bhi dega.
